Together with First Lady Janet, we were honoured to host the Indian Vice President, His Excellency Hamid Ansari and his wife Salma, at State House, Entebbe.

We have great historical ties with India with a long-standing relationship. For example Mahatma Ghandi was in South Africa when he started his activities, while Nehru supported Uganda's fight for independence.

India has also welcomed a lot of Ugandan students, supporting us in medicine, transport and the military. We send a good number UPDF officers for training in India. Our relationship is warm and respectful

Following our bilateral discussion, we have agreed to work together in the area of vocational training especially for our youth.

Government is going to build at least one vocational institute per constituency, therefore we want partners like India in this venture.

I have also asked the VP to encourage Indian companies to come and invest in Uganda, especially now that we are aggressively addressing the issue of infrastructure, roads, electricity. The environment is good for investment

We also agreed that India will support us in the area of scientific training.

Therefore despite this being a short visit, it has been fruitful.
